Fall Move-Out Procedures

Complete the check-out checklist!
* Make sure if your room has a vacancy that there is space available for a student to move in. This means furniture is set and available for a roommate.
* Unplug electronics, appliances, and fridges.
* Defrost your fridge (if you have one).
* Lower the heat in your room and keep the heat on.
* Empty trash and recycling.
* Make sure policy violations are rectified.
* Make sure all windows are closed and locked, lights are off, and the door is locked behind you.
* Remember things like keys, chargers, passports, and medications.
* Residential students MUST leave campus by 12/14 at 8pm or 24 hours after their last exam, whichever comes first.
* Students should fill out the Check-Out Confirmation form to let Residential Life know that you have left campus.
* PERSONAL BELONGINGS may remain in your room if you will be in the same room for the spring semester. Items may be left in the room until you return for the start of the Spring semester.
* Please be cognizant to bring all items you will need with you when you leave campus. Access to your room will generally not be available and will only be granted in emergency situations.
* If you are changing rooms for the spring, you will need to follow all of the procedures set out by Residential Life and Physical Plant BEFORE you leave for the break.

Additional Information

Students taking a final exam on Saturday, December 14th should be prepared to depart campus by 8:00 pm. Residents who have concerns about departing that day should complete the Winter Break Housing Exception Request Form by December 5th at 4:30pm.

If you are not out of your room by 8pm on Saturday and are not approved, you will be considered an improper checkout and subject to the code of conduct. Those that are still in their room by the time staff recheck departures that evening will be documented as a part of the Community Standards and Student Conduct process for Failure to Comply.
